Peace loving children home, Kathmandu Twenty-five boys are caring by PFN under Peace Loving Children Home, Kathmandu. Among them, 4 children are kept in Serene Valley School as borders. One child Mr. Man Bahadur Tamang completed SLC examination in first division. We had big challenge to care these children. These children are growing and each day we are facing new problem. We have to play an effective guardian role so that they can feel children home as their own home living with their parents. We are fully aware on the issue and we are doing best as we can. We are doing keen observation and follow-up on their diet, education, health, desire and interest. The children are securing good results in their examination. Six of these children do not have sponsorship as sponsors stop sponsorship for them. We are looking for sponsorship and we have trust on God. Mr. Rajan Dhakal is the in-charge of Peace Loving Children Home, Kathmandu 2. Peace Loving Children Home, Pokhara Six children are caring by PFN under Peace Loving Children Home, Pokhara. Among them, 4 are girls and 2 are small 5 years old boys. The girls are fall between age 12 to 15 and grade 1 to 6. These children are kept in rented flat. We had vision to launch counseling program in all prisons of Nepal with counselor. This helps to decrease crime in society, reconcile in their society and develop positive attitudes for society and maximum utilization of their prison time. iii. Electronics book published: We are providing vocational training on Electronics in our center. Book related to electronics written in Nepali language is not available. So, we had published a book of Electronics in Nepali language with few copies. Our electronics teacher, Mr. Prakash Bajracharya wrote the book. 5. Prison World Bulletin We have felt communication gap between inmates and Prison Fellowship, Nepal. In Nepal, there are seventy-three prisons through out the country. There is no road access in many prisons specially north belt, mountain and Himalayan regions and it is true that there are no single volunteer and difficult to get devoted Christian volunteer. How can we reach there and link with them? To see this dire need we have created wonderful idea to publish 'Prison World' Bulletin in Nepali language. We are publishing this bulletin quarterly with thousand copies and distributing freely to prison by mail. Through this project we are able to link with inmates for help, information and encouragement with each other's. It is like "Global Link" a publication of PFI to National ministry. It is our great pleasure to inform you that with this bulletin, more prisoners are doing close contact with us and few of them are admitting in our vocational training at Model Rehabilitation Centre. Many articles written by prisoners are coming for publication in this bulletin. These articles are exciting with positive attitude and with their personal feelings. 6. Library Project: Prison is a confined area bounded by stonewalls and steel bars. Prisoners have to spend day and night within that specific confined area. So, they spend most of their time by just sleeping and chatting with each other. Their minds become dull due to no work and learning. It is important to make their mind active in prison. Library is the most effective method to make mind sharp. They get daily news and gain knowledge that helps them to use that knowledge after released. Therefore, we are starting library projects in different prisons and in our training center. The prisons administrators are also highly demanding for library. But, due to our limited resources, we could not fulfill their demand in all prisons. This year we are planning to establish 15 libraries in 15 different prisons of Nepal according to recommendation of Prison Management Department. Recently in coming Friday 20th August 2004, we are going to establish library in Dhulikhel Prison,Kavre. We will donate a table, two bookracks and two benches. 7. Model REhabilitation Center Model Rehabilitation Center aims to encourage the offender by providing different kinds of skill oriented and income generation training so that they can live respectful life in the society as before without harassment and hopeless. Mr. Sagar Thapa is the in-charge of Model Rehabilitation Centre. a. Vocational Training: We are providing vocational training of tailoring, electronics with house wiring and motorcycle repairing units in our Model Rehabilitation Center. We had completed fourth batch of vocational training. Sixty-seven people got benefit from this program since its establishment. Now, fifth batch of vocational trainings are running in the center. 16 released prisoners are receiving vocational trainings on tailoring, electronics with house wiring and motor cycle repairing with welding with free of cost. b. Counseling: We are providing social counseling class for all the trainees of vocational training. The course is of 6 months in which 3 months introductory and 3 months advance. The counseling includes psychological, behavioral, social and health topics. This helps to change their attitude positively and maintain good health. c. Vegetable Production: We are producing lots of seasonal vegetables in our kitchen garden. It helps to sustain in green vegetables required for center. All the trainees are join in the work to produce vegetables and it helps to refresh their mind and body. d) Facilities: We are providing sport materials, library, newspaper, television and other recreational goods for our trainees. These facilities help to broaden their knowledge, to develop their personality and to spend their leisure time. 8. Partnership with vocational training department of ministry of industry, HMG God had provided us wider vision and burden on the partnership with vocational Training Department of Ministry of Industry, HMG. This is a new horizon in our organization. We are doing electronics with house wiring training in our Model Rehabilitation Center, Gothatar, Kathmandu. Seventy percent of operational cost is beard by Vocational Training Department of Ministry of Industry, His Majesty Government of Nepal and thirty percent cost is beard by Prison Fellowship Nepal. Non-Christian community even authority always blames that Christian community preaching the gospel with foreign money. But is not possible at all. That is true there are many youth without jobs and training that is why we have decided this training to give the jobless youth of church community of Kathmandu Valley. Just two week ago we have selected interested seventeen youth on the recommendation of churches of Kathmandu Valley. There were big demand for such training but this is first program with government let hope in future may we have big plan for such areas. This is six months free training for such youth. Yours in Him , Dinesh Neupane
