Audit Reports of 2002

The Annual Report 2002 enclosing Audit Report, A sheet with financial details of Children Education Program, Model Rehabilitation Center and Ministry Report for your kind information. The Audit Report reflects the overall 2002 financial activities of our ministry, the sheet shows the 2002 financial transaction of Model Rehabilitation Center, Children Education Program. The ministry Report demonstrates the present activities of our ministry. This year we had received USD 43,000.00 (Forty three thousand USD only) for various Programs and spent USD 48,540.00 (Forty eight thousand five hundred forty USD only). Excess of expenses over income transferred from previous year balance.

Prisoner's Welfare Program Prisoner's Welfare program covers the activities to support prisoners directly or indirectly. We had provided supplies of relief materials, sport goods, medical supplies, daily necessity goods etc. to prisoners. This year,we had supplied 30 meters PVC carpet for Tanahun Jail. Most of the jails do not have physical facilities. The floor is wet and damp during rainy season. So, these kinds of carpet need to distribute in other jails. This is our beginning. We are providing daily newspaper 'Kantipur' for Syangja, Myagdi, Kaski, Lamjung, Tanahun and Palpa jails. We had provided sport materials in Dhulikhel, Nakhkhu, Female, Syangja, Myagdi, Lamjung and Palpa jails for the prisoners recreating and entertainment. The sport materials include chess, Carom, Volleyball and other sports goods. We had also provided television for Palpa jail.
Model Rehabilitation Center The construction of Model Rehabilitation Center was completed on 28 February 2002. We have three-story building with altogether 14 rooms and additional training hall. We are providing Tailoring and Electronics and Electric Wiring training as vocational training plus Social Counseling and field training of kitchen garden. Now third batch is running . There are twelve trainees. On 8th of we have opened this training officially. We are seriously planning to open third unit of automobile workshop. Please pray for resources. We are providing sport materials for their refreshment and personality development. The center established Library for reading and television for daily news and entertainment.
Peace Loving Children Home a. In Kathmandu : Twenty-nine children are living in our Peace Loving Children Home, Kathmandu. They had completed their second term examination. It is a great pleasure to inform you that in their first examination result, three children, Dilip Maharjan, Jayandra Lama and Arjun Parajuli took first position in their classes. Similarly Nakul Tamang and Navaraj B.K. took second position in their classes and Raj Lama took third position in his class. We have to work hard for two children who are very poor in their study. We are giving tuition classes two times a day i.e. morning & evening of each an hour for all children which helps to improve their study. The health status of all the children is sound. They have balance diet and growing well both physically and mentally. We had organized Dental Camp on 25 November 2002. Two dentists from Norway checked up and clean the teeth of all the children and residential staff. They refer 4 children for further check up in hospital, which had gum swollen problem. The dentists also gave advice in caring of teeth. The children are also busy on energetic activities in Home. They are practicing cooking, washing utensils and cleaning their room, kitchen and playing ground according to their schedule. Our main objective is to make a productive person with self-confidence and self-depend for their life span. We are committed to provide best education and health with best care and friendly environment. b. In Pokhara : Peace Loving Children Home had newly established in Pokhara on July 2002 with two children. Now, the number was increased and there are five prisoners' orphanages. The key objective of establishment of Peace Loving Children Home in Pokhara is to give parental care by our ministry, to feel them their parent as ministry and to build up future leaders in Christian field as well as secular field. We are keenly focus only on Prison orphanages that do not have any support and security on open field. We are giving balance diet, best education and hygiene to them. We have tuition class and moral education for their educational and spiritual improvement.
Supports to Parent Program In this program forty children are being caring by PFN. Before caring us they all were in prisons with their parent but with the help of sponsored 20 USD per month per child they were released. In this program we help them financial assistance, medical care, stationary, school uniform and organized get together once a year in Kathmandu.
PFN Chapter East Nepal, Morang It is a great pleasure to inform you that we had newly established PFN Chapter East Nepal, Morang on 9 September 2002. The main objective of new chapter is to cover Eastern Regional Jails of Nepal. This is our mission to expand our coverage area and serve all jails and prisoners of Nepal. Recently, we have two volunteers, Mr. Kiran Dhimal and Mr. Raj Kumar Rai for the East Nepal Chapter in coordination with Pastor Anil Subba. The main task of them is to visit two jails i.e. Biratnagar and Jhapa jails and develop good relationship with the officials, inmates and community. They also send trainees for vocational training in Model Rehabilitation Center. Recently, they are doing jail visits and we are planning to launch other programs as soon as possible according to report and situation of the area.
7. Literature Program It is impossible to get literature and books related to prison in Nepal. So, it is also important to publish books related to jails. We had completed writing a book 'Life After Prison' in Nepali version. The writers are Dinesh Neupane and Roshan Prajapati. We are waiting donation for publication of book. We are starting counseling classes in our training center. We realize that a course book is necessary for effective counseling. We are preparing a book for counseling class. The course includes topics of social, behavioral, Psychological, health and law.
Prison Resource Center We are planning to establish prison resource Center in our Model Rehabilitation Center. The resource center will be probably the first resource Center in Nepal those who want to research and get information in prison sector. We are preparing different prison related books in Nepali version. All the books related to prison in Nepali and English Language will be kept in this center. On the behalf, we are requesting you to send information on prison related books or send the copies so that we can keep them in our Resource Center. We will highly appreciate your cooperation for this endeavor. It is our great pleasure that the Prison Resource Center had been established during preparation of annual report. Vice-President of Prison Fellowship International had inaugurated the Center in May 8, 2002.
Nepali Thailand Jail: There are thirty nine Nepali prisoners in the charge of drug case.in Bangkok jails .We are supporting six children whose prarent have life sentence, from May 2003 under the support to parent program and providing vocational training family of these prisoner. In this way we are involve of advocacy to exchange of prisoners in Nepal's jail. Dear partner, we are very grateful and thankful for your continue support for this ministry.
